Irene Nafungo is seasoned Social Development practitioner with over 25 years’ experience in development, managing and implementing social development programs aimed at the advancement of the wellbeing of marginalized groups including children in both the Public Sector and international non-Governmental organizations. Irene Nafungo worked as Area Manager with Child Fund International, National Coordinator with National Association of Social workers of Uganda, Regional Program Coordinator of the Salvation Army Uganda, Project Officer   OVC Project with African Medical & Research Foundation (AMREF), Branch Manager with FOCCAS Uganda – a Micro finance education program and a Welfare and Rehabilitation officer with Uganda Prisons service. Irene Nafungo working knowledge and experience with multilateral and bilateral donors such the EU, UN, USAID, CIDA among others. Irene holds membership to various bodies to include National Child Protection Group of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, National Social Care and Support Subcommittee of the National Social Protection System led by UNICEF and MGLSD, National Association of Social workers of Uganda and the Gender and Equity Community of Practice in Uganda, Currently Irene the Principal Compliance Officer with Equal Opportunities Commission a government body responsible for protection of the vulnerable and marginalized populations for a fair and just society. Irene Nafungo holds a Master of Arts degree in Social Sector   Planning & Management (SSPM) from Makerere University and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration of Makerere University Uganda. She has also attended various short courses. Irene is committed to ensure that ICCA delivers its commitment to the children of Uganda and beyond. It has always been her wish to see a society that is just and fair without vulnerable and marginalized populations.
